The City of Chicago Department of Community Development, 2nd Ward Alderman Robert Fioretti and 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr. are all pleased to announce a public information meeting regarding the Central-West Tax Increment Finance Neighborhood Improvement Program (TIF-NIP).
What is TIF-NIP?
TIF-NIP provides grants for home repairs on single family residential properties. The single family program is open to eligible owner-occupants of one to four unit residential properties located within the Central-West TIF district.
The community meeting will allow you to ask questions as well provide information about: 1) Grant Amounts, 2) Program Eligibility Requirements, 3) Eligible Home Repairs, and 4) Program Administration.
The TIF-NIP Community Meeting is on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Phoenix/Marine Military Academy School Auditorium, 145 So. Campbell Ave, Chicago, IL 60612

]]>They are looking for hard-working, ready-to-start job seekers from the local area (27th Ward). While the program ends Sept 30th, there is the possibility of the temps being hired in regular positions. Please note that for this program there is no drug-testing and no criminal background checks.
ICNC is working with an agency that can facilitate the hiring of temporary employees easily and quickly. If interested please attend their hiring event on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10:30am at ICNC. They will match interested employers with temporary employees.
Temporary employees must be low income (below 200% federal poverty – an unemployed person would qualify) and be a parent of a minor child (custodial or non-custodial) if over 21 years old.

DFSS expects to award up to $225,000 to a Career Development Center in each one of the six regions. Interested organizations can access this RFP at www.cityofchicago.org/fss.
Proposals are due March 22, 2010 at 4:30pm
Proposals will be evaluated based on the criteria outlined in the RFP, including programmatic experience; organizational and administrative/ fiscal capacity and experience; project design, and cost effectiveness. The selected organization will be required to provide a 15% match of requested funding from sources other than DFSS, e.g. private foundations, individual donors etc. In addition, respondents should be aware that payment for services by the City is made on a reimbursement basis.
